A teacher was arrested and charged with murder after she allegedly killed her own disabled daughter, police in Namibia said.

Police said that after the brutal killing, the teacher used a grill to cook her daughter’s remains.

Investigators said that the 49-year-old suspect teaches in Ongwediva, a city in the Oshana Region. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Magdalena Nunyango Amunyoko.

The grisly murder was discovered on Saturday, when Amunyoko’s brother, a student at the University of Namibia, went to check on her. Amunyoko was born with a rare condition that limited her bodily functions. She was bedridden and had slurred speech.

At the mother’s home, investigators found handwritten notes on a table with the words “burn the enemy” written on them. She told the police that there were demons in the house and her daughter was seeing the demons.

In addition to the victim, police found the burned remains of a television, a satellite dish and Amunyoko’s wheelchair. Police said that they are also investigating Foursquare Gospel Church, saying that the church’s doctrine may have contributed to the murder.

The suspect is being held in the psychiatric ward of a local hospital.
