A mother who loves to lift weights, was seen weightlifting just hours before giving birth to her child.

Meghan Umphres Leatherman broke records by lifting the 215 pound weight during an advanced stage of pregnancy.

Even when she was told that she is 1 centimeter dilated, it did not stop her from her grueling fitness workout, which combines weightlifting , gymnastics and cardio activities.

The 33-year-old woman even lifted weights on the day she went into labor and broke records in the last days of her pregnancy.

Besides going to the gym four times a week, Leatherman of Arizona, walks her dog three miles a day and does a four-mile hike through the mountains once a week.

Leatherman insists that she and her baby are healthier as a result of her intense workouts. Now, she is settling into life as a mother after giving birth to her 6 pound 11 ounce daughter, Florence Germaine.

The mother hopes to be back in the gym in just three weeks. “I spoke with my doctor and he said that I can go back to the gym in three weeks. Being fit helped me conceive in the first place and kept me healthy during my pregnancy,” the woman said.

Three days before her due date, Leatherman set a new personal record, lifting 215 pounds of dead weight. She said that her energy level soared as her due date approached.

“I think women should not use pregnancy as an excuse to get lazy,” Leatherman concluded.
