(Scroll down for video) A woman knew that her husband molested her young daughter, but chose to forgive him rather than reporting him to police.
Now, the woman and her husband of Jenks, Oklahoma, were arrested.
The incident came to light after the elementary school student told her school nurse that she was being touched inappropriately, according to the Jenks Police.
Kenneth Russell Otis, 28, and Tiffany Liana King, 33, are in the Tulsa County jail in connection with the incident.
Tulsa Police said that the 9-year-old girl told the nurse that her step father touched her inappropriately and told her to keep it secret.
The officers went to the couple’s home and spoke to the child’s mother. When questioned, she admitted to knowing about the incident.
She allegedly told police that Otis had touched the child about six months ago and promised never to do it again.
She then decided to handle the problem in the family and did not report the crime, according to the arresting officer.
Otis, 28, was taken to the police station, but refused to talk to the police without a lawyer.
He was booked into jail on a complaint of lewd acts to a minor after a felony conviction. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
King was charged with child endangerment. Her bond was set at $25,000.
The Department of Human Services took the girl and her older brother in protective custody, according to the report.
