(Scroll down for video) A woman of Australia, was horrified to learn that she gave birth to a girl with two faces.
Doctors said that Renee Young of Sydney, has given birth to twin girls born with a rare medical condition called diprosopus.
The twin girls Hope and Faith, share one heart, one body, limbs and skull, but each has her own brain and a set of identical facial features. Young and her partner Simon Howie, who have seven children, said that the girls were doing well after being born on Thursday.
They are breathing well and on their own. The twins even had their first bath.
Doctors still do not know how long they will need to be in the hospital. The couple discovered during an ultrasound that the girls would be born with diprosopus.
Doctors told the couple to consider aborting the fetus. Development issues meant that the babies can have trouble breathing after birth.
The couple decided to go ahead with the pregnancy and the woman gave birth by emergency caesarean section at Blacktown Hospital. The twins weighed just over two pounds.
There have only been 35 similar cases reported worldwide, and none of the babies survived.
