(Scroll down for video) A mother was arrested on charges of child abuse after beating her child to near death for receiving a poor grade on his report card, police in Tennessee said.
Latasha Green of Memphis, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after allegedly beating her 6-year-old son so badly that he had to be taken to a hospital.
Green became angry when the first grader received his report card. Green saw an “N” on his card. The letter grade means needs improvement.
According to investigators, the boy was whipped in the face and beaten on his torso. The abuse was discovered later by school authorities, police said.
The child behaved strangely at school and vomited several times before they called an ambulance. The elementary school student had to be transported to a children’s hospital.
After an examination by doctors, the boy was diagnosed with a fractured skull, cuts on his body and damage to his pancreas. Green was released Monday night on $25,000 bail.
The child is recovering from his injuries.
