(Scroll down for video) A father of two will spend the next two decades behind bars for raping a woman.
Taxi driver Gurmeet Singh of New York, was sentenced to twenty years in prison for raping a passenger in the back of his cab.
The 42 year old, who lives in Jamaica, Queens, was found guilty of raping the woman after she fell asleep in the back of his cab.
The victim took the stand against him and said that she felt so traumatized by the rape that she moved from Manhattan to the west coast.
The woman said that the cab driver bound, gagged and blindfolded her before raping her at knifepoint.
The 29-year-old nonprofit worker testified how she woke up to Singh straddling after she fell asleep in the back seat of his cab. Before that she partied in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
Singh was convicted of rape, but acquitted of other charges including predatory sexual assault and robbery. Members of his Sikh community begged the judge for mercy and offered compensation to the victim. Singh continues to insist that the sex was consensual.
