(Scroll down for video) Three roommates were shocked to discover a large amount of cash hidden inside their couch.
Reese Werkhoven, Cally Guasti, and Lara Russo, all of New York, found $41,000 in cash several weeks ago, and they are still in shock.
The three said that they had bought the couch from a Salvation Army near New Paltz, New York, about two months ago.
The hundred dollar bills were wrapped in bubble wrap and envelopes. After counting the money they realized that the envelope had a name on it.
With the help of the mother of Werkhoven, they were able to find the woman to whom the money belonged. They called her and returned the money.
The woman said that she put the money in her couch and forgot about it. Her family members donated the couch because they didn’t know about the cash.
As a reward, the old woman gave the roommates $1,000.
