(Scroll down for video) A female new reporter was seen on video scooping up a pile of human waste and smelling it.

The incident happened when the woman was reporting about the stench that is too much for the neighbors to handle.

However, the farmer said that human waste is the best fertilizer to use for crops. The farm is located in St. Clair County, Illinois. The neighbors say that they always hope the wind blows in the opposite direction because they can’t take the awful smell.

Farmer Shane Reinneck said that it is basically raw sewage that was treated and heated to remove harmful pathogens. Reinneck gets it in dry form, which looks a bit like potting soil. He has been using the sewage for the past eleven years.

The sewage comes from a local wastewater treatment plant. While reporting the story, Elizabeth Matthews bent down, scooped up some of the sewage and smelled it.

She confirmed that it indeed smelled bad.
