(Scroll down for video) Hundreds of boys in France, arrived at school dressed in skirts in order to protest sexism.
The boys are calling the campaign “what the skirt raises.”
The mission of the campaign is to raise awareness about sexism. Surprisingly, the campaign was encouraged by school administrators in the region of Nantes.
After learning about the campaign, right winged groups protested in front of several schools. The groups, which also oppose gay marriage, claim that the skirt campaign is a secret government plot to promote “gender theory,” an idea that the gender of children is not fixed at birth.
Protesters held signs with slogans that read “gender theory is not my choice” and “no to gender theory.” Police said that some of the protesters turned violent.
Twenty-seven schools have registered for the campaign, which was approved by the Ministry of Education. One skirt wearing boy said that he planned to wear a skirt to school again just to annoy the right winged groups.
