A security guard is lucky to be alive after he was set on fire by his close friend.

Ramsey Musikita, 34, was the security guard at a gas station in Gauteng, South Africa, when he was badly burned by a former colleague on Tuesday morning.

Musikita was in his secured booth at the gas station in Heidelberg, when he was attacked by his friend.

The incident began about 4:00 a.m., as Musikita was sitting in the secured guard’s room. His friend approached and said that he was there to give him R100 – which he borrowed last week.

“He gave it to me and thanked me, but when I asked him to leave, he started insulting me,” Musikita said.

The two got into a fight, and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Musikita. He then set Musikita on fire. Musikita managed to escape despite being on fire and bleeding from the head.

Musikita is still in shock as to how or why this happened because the suspect is a close friend. Musikita suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Katlego Mogale, said that the suspect was a former security guard, who was fired days before the incident took place because he was accused of stealing money.

Police were investigating the incident as an attempted murder and for malicious damage to property, but no arrests had been made.
