A sex offender was arrested after he was found hiding under a child’s bed.
Police were called to a disturbance at an apartment. When police arrived, they found Julien Martell Skipper, 33, of Iowa, hiding under the child’s bed.
Skipper is a registered sex offender, who was not supposed to be living at a home where children reside.
Skipper was registered at 2631 Hawthorne Drive, an apartment in Bettendorf, but instead, he lived at an apartment with two young children.
Police initially arrested him for a drug charge, and he taken to the Scott County Jail, where he is still in custody.
He was later charged with two counts of violating the condition of his probation for sex offenders.
Police said that Skipper did not notify the authorities when he changed his place of residence. He also did not reveal who else lived in the apartment, which included two children, 5 and 10 years old.
Skipper was convicted of committing lewd acts against a 14-year-old child. He was 25 years old at the time.
