(Scroll down for video) Police were looking for a car thief after a number of cars went missing over a couple of days.

Most cars were taken from parking lots at Walmart, Sams Club and other major retail stores.

Now, the suspected car thief has been arrested in Florida.
The Port St. Lucie Police said that Calvin Rodriguez, was finally caught thanks in part to an alligator.

Investigators believe that Rodriguez is responsible for the theft of at least five cars. He is accused of using shaved keys to open the car doors and start the engines of Honda and Acura vehicles.

Police spotted Rodriguez in a Honda Civic, but he led police on a high speed chase. That chase ended when the alligator decided to cross the road and collided with Rodriguez.

Rodriguez faces five counts of grand theft auto. The condition of the alligator that was struck is still unknown.
