A man of Arizona, is in trouble after using his dog as a pawn to win back his girlfriend.

The man starved his dog and sent a graphic image of the emaciated canine to his former girlfriend to try to win her back, authorities on Phoenix said.

Luis Moreno, 38, was arrested after he handed over his pit bull terrier named Wiggles, to animal control as a stray when the former girlfriend refused to get back with him.

Moreno and his girlfriend adopted Wiggles in 2008, according to Maricopa County deputies. When they separated, Moreno kept Wiggles.

After the break up he started calling and texting his former girlfriend to reconcile, but when the woman did not respond, Moreno resorted to using Wiggles as bait, deputies said.

At one point Moreno sent a text message to his former girlfriend saying: “Wiggles is dead, I hope you are happy b****,” officials said.

The ploy worked and the woman called as she was concerned about the dog. Happy to have a chance to speak with the woman, Moreno told her that Wiggles was fine.

She offered to help pay for medical treatment, but Moreno refused her offer and asked her out on a date. As expected, the woman declined.

As a last resort, Moreno sent the woman a picture of Wiggles emaciated and laying on the ground. After giving up any reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Moreno turned Wiggles into animal control and said the dog was a stray.

Wiggles was in such poor condition that the dog had to be euthanized. Moreno was arrested, and he faces domestic violence and animal cruelty charges.
