(Scroll down for video) A family was left shattered after their mother accidentally accelerated the car and crashed into their home.
68-year-old Carol Fedigan, was enjoying a weekend with her family at their lake house in Sammamish Lake, Washington, on Saturday night.
Fedigan took her 3-year-old grandson to the front of her house to park the Jeep that she had just bought. However, when she put the vehicle in motion, she accidentally accelerated and crashed into her house.
Her husband, David Walker, 70, who was in the house, was run over and killed. Her daughter, Megan Fedigan-Barry, and her husband, Sean Barry, who were resting on the back porch, were run over as well. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The vehicle came to a stop with its front in the water and its rear wheels clinging to the deck. Fedigan told police that the vehicle malfunctioned, but they suspect that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor. The investigation is still ongoing.
Fedigan has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
