According to the police investigation, the lovers arrived to their secret apartment in Imo. After a few days, Ugwunna’s family members became concerned and filed a missing persons report.

When police entered the apartment they found Ayeola’s decomposing body while Ugwunna was unresponsive. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Locals believe that the couple died as a result of a curse because they were cheating. However, investigators confirmed that the two died of carbon monoxide poisoning as police found a running generator in their apartment.

The woman, who worked at New Generation Bank, lied to her husband, saying that she was attending a meeting in Ibadan, while she went to her lover.
