A father and his son are both dead after being killed in different accidents.
The 4-year-old boy had just been at his father’s funeral when he was struck and killed by a van in Chester, Delaware County, while crossing the street.
Police said that young Carder Brown, jumped out of the Dodge Charger and ran towards his mother when he was hit by a truck that was heading down the street.
The 42-year-old driver stopped and stayed at the scene until emergency personnel arrived.
According to the initial police investigation, authorities said that it appears to be a tragic accident, and they do not expect to file charges.
Brown was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The child’s father, Derrick Brown, was shot last week. The family said that Brown was an innocent bystander, who was caught in a shootout. They also lost another family member to gun violence six months ago.
The case remains under investigation. May they rest in peace.
