3 people seriously injured after car splits in half by crashing into tree in Flatbush

Three people were hospitalized after their car crashed into a tree in Flatbush, rescue workers in New York said.

Brooklyn Police said that three people were injured in the crash that occurred on Sunday morning.

The driver of a 2013 Acura, crashed into the tree on Ocean Parkway between Avenue O and Avenue P, around 3:30 a.m. The force of the impact was so great that the car completely wrapped around the tree.

According to the initial investigation, the driver was heading north on Ocean Parkway and was trying to make a turn when he lost control of the vehicle. The 21-year-old passenger, who was in the front seat of the car, is in critical condition with a head injury.

The victim was transferred Kings County Hospital. The 24-year-old driver and the 20-year-old passenger, were said to be in stable condition at Lutheran Medical Center.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to pull two of the victims from the rubble. Firefighters had to cut open part of the car.
