A professor filed a lawsuit against NYU, after allegedly facing discrimination because she is Jewish, according to court documents filed in New York.
The professor and television comedy writer alleges that NYU discriminated against her because of her religion.
61-year-old Mollie Fermaglich, said that she was forced to work on the Jewish holiday of Passover. When she protested, a colleague asked her: “Just how Jewish are you?” According to the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court.
Fermaglich also claimed that despite working 20 years at New York University and having a career in television working with Jerry Seinfeld, William Shatner, Rita Rudner, Jackie Mason and others, she was passed over several times for promotions. Fermaglich is seeking $12 million in damages.
A spokesperson for NYU said that Fermaglich still teaches full time at the school and he denied her allegations.
