A man was convicted of raping a girl on the night of his wedding.
William Jordan of the United Kingdom, raped a 14-year-old girl on the night of his wedding, while his bride was asleep in the next room.
Jordan has been jailed for 18 years after he was found guilty of raping the young girl and another girl.
Jordan carried out the first sickening attack when he was 18 years old, on the night he got married at City Hall in Hammersmith in West London.
The newlywed couple had spent the night celebrating at a friend’s house with other relatives and friends.
During the night, he had left the bed, which he shared with his new wife, and raped the girl who was sleeping in another room in the same house.
His victim was too terrified to tell anyone what had happened and kept quiet for many years.
Jordan, now 59, has finally been brought to justice 41 years after the attack, which took place on April 20, 1973.
In 1977, Jordan began abusing another girl when she came to babysit for his two children once a month, a court was told.
When he and his wife went out for drinks, he would sneak away and rape the 11-year-old babysitter at his home before returning to the bar “as if nothing had happened.”
The attacks lasted for two years.
The judge, Oliver Sells, called Jordan “a devious, predatory abuser,” as he sentenced him to a total of 18 years in prison.
“You enjoyed decades of undeserved freedom,” Judge Sells said.
The court heard that Jordan was convicted of another sexual offense in 1980.
Jordan of Hammersmith, denied the charges, but was convicted by a jury on three counts of rape. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
