(Scroll down for video) A clothing company in Japan, has decided that it will be easier for consumers to label sizes as “fat,” “skinny,” and “jumbo.”
Most companies offer clothing in sizes small, medium, large and extra large, but the Fatyo company decided to take a less conventional approach, offering four sizes.
“Twitch, skinny, fat and Jumbo.” The company website notes that Japan often uses alternative labels for size and the brand is aiming to make fat the new cool.
While many people do not take kindly to being called fat, the twitch term is also used as a derogatory label in reference to women who are often attractive but promiscuous and vindictive.
The consumer reaction to the labels is a mixed bag. “Would Godzilla qualify as a size?” Some Rabbit asked. “That type of size should be used worldwide,” Zdenek T. said. “Japan has never ever been politically correct. It won’t start today and probably not tomorrow,” Alan Mathis said.
