A bank employee was arrested on charges of theft after allegedly stealing cash from checking accounts, prosecutors in Nigeria said.
Lagos State Police said that Binutiri Aribidesi Sodiq, who was a customer service agent at New Generation Bank, withdrew cash from twelve accounts without receiving any authorization.
The 26-year-old man was caught by police after several customers filed complaints. Sodiq, who lives on Binutiri Street, stole N989,200 ($6,049) from customers.
The bank said that it only discovered the fraud when they audited the accounts. In March, Juan Rebolledo was arrested after running a gang in Colombia’s capital of Bogota, that used women to seduce rich men.
Once being in a relationship, the gang members kidnapped and tortured the men for their money.
Police said that the gang members often tortured their victims with electric shocks and forced them to reveal the PIN of their ATM cards. They also stole other valuables.
