Two women are facing jail after they were caught making out at a bar, police in Nigeria said.

Anambra State Police said that they have arrested the two young women identified as Chioma and Amaka, for allegedly making out with each other.

The suspects were caught while performing indecent acts at a bar that belongs to one of them. The regional police commander vowed to press for a stiff sentence of up to fourteen years in jail in order for the incident to be a deterrent to others.

President Goodluck Jonathan recently signed a bill into law that prohibits gay and lesbian activities. During questioning, one suspect confessed to the crime, saying that the devil caused her to sin.

In May, twenty six lesbians were arrested on charges of illegal sexual activity after they were allegedly caught red handed having sex at a pub, police in Nigeria said. Delta State Police said that they raided the pub located on Awai Road, after receiving intelligence about the criminal activity.

A spokesperson for the police confirmed that the 26 suspects were arrested after police officers observed them having sex with one another. All of the suspects were not wearing any clothes.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to their crimes, and said that it was their way of earning a living. According to the police investigation, the facility was made to look like an ordinary pub in order to avoid suspicion by the public.

Security guards were placed at the entrance to collect fees of those willing to be exposed to the illicit sexual activities. Teen girls from neighboring communities and states visited the pub to smoke, drink and engage in sexual acts.

The public expressed their outrage after learning about the arrests. “The Nigeria Police Force should use their resources for the safety of our community, to hunt down kidnappers and robbers rather than chasing minority gays and lesbians on the streets,” Shina said.

“Nigeria has a bigger problem than gays or lesbians. Please use your time and resources to smoke out the Boko Haram terrorists,” Total said.
