(Scroll down for video) A family is in shock over the sudden death of their beloved family member.
49-year-old James Anthony McKenzie of Decatur, Tennessee, who accidentally shot himself dead while driving, is the son of Meigs County Sheriff R.L. McKenzie.
The accident occurred in Chattanooga, while the driver, McKenzie, was traveling on Highway 58. He was shot with his own gun on his thigh.
He managed to pull over by swerving across both lanes. Witnesses called police thinking that the man suffered a seizure.
When deputies arrived, they found McKenzie dead and bleeding heavily from the bullet wound to the leg. Police are still trying to figure out how the gun discharged.
McKenzie had a valid firearm permit, Authorities are warning others to be careful around firearms.
