(Scroll down for video) A heartless thief stole groceries from a wrecked car despite the fact that a woman was laying dead inside, police in Texas said.
Houston Police said that the mother at the wheel of the Toyota 4Runner collided with another car on a road near Dumfries.
She crashed into a tree and died on impact. Her two sons, aged 4 and 6, wore seatbelts, but were not in car seats.
They were taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Before help arrived, someone looted the car.
Witnesses told police that they saw a thief taking groceries out of the front seat. The children watched in horror as the suspect was taking the groceries from the vehicle instead of helping their injured mother.
Earlier in the day, the woman attended the graduation ceremony of her 4 year old at school. After the graduation, she went to the grocery store, and when she was on her way home she crashed.
Police believe that she was at fault and was not wearing a seatbelt. Police launched a search for the suspect, but so far, no arrests have been made.
