(Scroll down for video) A police officer was suspended with pay over a food bill.
Lt. Rick Hamrick of Tennessee, has been with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department for 33 years.
During the last seven years, he has been in charge of court security for jurors.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond, said that Hamrick was also responsible to provide the food for the jurors. However, during one trial the food bill was almost $1,000.
Hammond said that judges often allow jurors to be taken out for lunch or order lunch to be brought back to the courthouse for them.
A Hamilton County Criminal Court judge filed a complaint over the high food bill, which led to an investigation.
The Internal Affairs department began the investigation and suspended Hamrick.
Hamrick was suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
