Schuylkill County Police said that the employee of the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority, was caught urinating into a filtration unit at a treatment plant that provides drinking water to the Pottsville area.
52-year-old Paul Herb of Mar Lin, was charged on Monday, with tampering with a public water system, institutional vandalism and criminal mischief. The incident unfolded one morning, when the chief of the water authority went to the Indian Run Water Treatment Plant, to help Herb fix faulty valves.
When the chief came into a room he observed the defendant urinating into filter unit 2, police said. After testing the water, officials determined that there is no threat to public health.
Herb voluntarily gave up his certification that enabled him to work at the water treatment facility. Herb will not be allowed to operate or supervise a water or wastewater facility in Pennsylvania.
