A Borough Park woman was arrested on charges of theft after allegedly stealing nearly $7,000 from her mother, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that they arrested the 21-year-old woman on Sunday, after being accused of stealing cash totaling $6,700 from her mother in the last six months.
The victim, who lives near Dahill Road and 24th Avenue, told police that her daughter had been stealing her debit card and withdrew cash. On Sunday, her daughter visited the house, but only long enough to steal another $700 – the woman told police.
The woman was charged with theft. In May, two women were arrested on theft charges after they allegedly stole a wallet and credit cards from a worker at a Borough Park store, police in New York said. Brooklyn Police said that they have arrested the two women, who were accused of a series of robberies in which a young girl was used to steal wallets and purses from shoppers at stores in Brooklyn and Queens.
Tisha Strong, 41, of Brooklyn, and Shannie Eastman, 39, of Queens, were each arrested on charges of grand theft, theft and failure to exercise control of a minor.
In one case, authorities said that the girl walked behind the counter in a clothing store on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, and took a wallet from someone, then gave it to one of the women. The group then left. Police said that the same girl stole two purses from customers at a thrift store on Cape Kennedy Street, while employees were helping other customers.
Police said that the three entered a travel agency and asked to use the bathroom. Then they took $900 in cash. They were also accused of entering Elegant Linen in Borough Park, and stealing a wallet containing credit cards from a store worker.
