(Scroll down for video) A family was overjoyed with the birth of their son.
However, the joy was overshadowed by death as the baby’s father was killed by a stray bullet.
33-year-old Justin Ayers, and his wife Jessica, invited friends and family to celebrating the homecoming of their 3-day-old baby at their home in Panama City, Florida.
It was about 6:00 p.m., and during the celebration, Ayers was hit with a bullet in the back of the head. He died instantly.
Deputies believe the bullet came from a gun fired by his 62-year-old neighbor, Charles Edward Shisler.
Police believe that Shisler fire the shot from inside his home and the bullet traveled through a sliding glass door at the home of Ayers.
Shisler allegedly told deputies he accidentally fired the gun when he picked it up by the trigger.
He was charged with manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His criminal status derived from a conviction for carrying a concealed firearm.
