13-year-old Mohammed Karaka of Arraba, was killed on Sunday, while his father, 50-year-old Fahmi Karaka, was injured when the truck they were traveling in was hit by a missile near the Tel Hezeka border between Israel and Syria.
Two other people were injured in the explosion. Rescue workers who arrived at the scene, treated the injured and helicopters transported the wounded to a hospital.
Tanks responded by firing mortars into Syria. A senior official of the Israeli army said that he believes that the missiles fired into the Golan Heights, were a deliberate attack against Israel.
The area is controlled by the rebels, but it is unclear whether they were responsible for the shooting. The victims were civilian contractors working for the Ministry of Defense.
They were on a routine mission along the northern border.
