(Scroll down for video) Police and the FBI are left with many questions after they have been searching for a young boy for almost 2 weeks.
12-year-old Charlie Bothuell of Michigan, was discovered in the basement of his family’s townhouse in Detroit.
Dozens of police officers along with a K9 unit, have searched the home after they found the boy’s blood in his home.
Now, the boy was found behind a makeshift wall in the basement of their home with food and a place to sleep. “Bothuell was very happy to see us,” Police Chief James Craig said.
Craig said that there is no way the boy could have made the wall himself. The boy allegedly told police that his stepmother provided him food while in the basement.
Therefore, suspicions fell on the boy’s father and stepmother. The couple, who home school the boy, are accused of child abuse for their strict discipline, which allegedly included hitting the boy with a pipe.
Police suspect that the boy’s blood they found in his room was the result of his parents hitting him. The parents deny the allegations.
The boy is recovering at the hospital with his biological mother at his side.
