A love triangle over a girl turned deadly and disgusting.

A man traveled from Zimbabwe to South Africa, to meet his former girlfriend.

However, when the jealous man came face to face with his lover’s new partner, he ripped out the man’s heart and ate it with a knife and fork, according to police.

Officers were called to the grisly scene in a house in Cape Town’s Gugulethu township, by desperate neighbors, according to police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk.

“At the scene, officers found the suspect, a Zimbabwean national, busy eating the heart of a human being with a knife and fork,” Van Wyk said.

The woman at the center of the love triangle told police that her former lover came to visit her at the house where she lived with her current partner, 62-year-old Mbuyiselo Manona.

The two chatted together before the suspect gave her money to buy liquor, and she left. When the woman returned home, she found that her partner had been stabbed to death, Van Wyk added.

She called for help. Neighbors said that they peered through the windows of the house and saw the Zimbabwean national cutting the heart of Manona, and eating it.

“The whole situation was crazy. We were yelling at him to stop, but he did not listen,” a neighbor said.

“Even when the police came here they were afraid to go inside the home. They had to call for back up. You can not really blame them. How do you go in a room with a man who places someone else’s body part with blood dripping from it in his mouth?” The neighbor added.

Western Cape deputy police commissioner Sharon Jephta, said that the motive for the murder was “definitely a love triangle.” The suspect was arrested for murder.
