(Scroll down for video) A woman was killed by a much younger man whom she invited into her home, police in Indiana said.

47-year-old Daniel Shoffner of LaPorte, was arrested after his daughter called police and told them that her father told her that he killed his roommate.

When a police officer arrived at 116 McClung Road, they found the body of Birdie Elder, who is in her 70’s, in a freezer.

Shoffner told police that he and Elder were drinking when he began making “knife moves” and accidentally stabbed Elder in the neck, according to the probable cause affidavit.

During interrogation, Shoffner admitted to stabbing Birdie twice. Shoffner allegedly stabbed Birdie in the chest and on her hand when she tried to stop him from stabbing her.

Shoffner told police he then put Birdie in the freezer to keep her cool. He then took Xanax pills, and shot insulin into his stomach and wrists in an attempt to commit suicide.

Amber Shoffner, the daughter of Daniel Shoffner, told police that her father called her on Sunday, and said that he killed the woman, but asked her not to call police until Monday, because he needed time to commit suicide. Amber Shoffner however, immediately called 911.
