Albuquerque Police said that the inmate, who escaped from prison by hiding in the laundry basket, has been caught after committing another crime.

The incident began when 28-year-old Kevin Matthew Perkins, hid inside the basket on Monday, in order to escape from the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The laundry basket was on its way to another detention facility. When a police officer opened a door of the van carrying the basket, Perkins jumped out from the basket and ran.

Later in the day, police received a call about a breaking and entering at an assisted living complex. When they arrived, police found broken glass from a window and followed a trail of blood, leading to Perkins.

Perkins was originally jailed on several charges, including theft and credit card fraud. Now, he is facing additional charges.
