(Scroll down for video) A young man is dead after a luxury car slammed into a garbage truck collecting trash in Flatbush, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that one man was arrested on charges of drunk driving in connection with the fatal collision between the BMW and the garbage truck early on Wednesday.
The collision left one man dead and two injured. 26-year-old Garfield Gwood was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said that he was driving the BMW that crashed into the back of the garbage truck.
The accident occurred at Utica Avenue and Avenue D, just after 1:30 a.m. The police said that the commercial garbage truck was traveling north on Utica Avenue and was making a left turn onto Avenue D when it collided with the BMW traveling south on Utica Avenue.
There were three people inside the BMW at the time. One passenger was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
The 26-year-old driver was taken to a hospital and was said to be in stable condition, while another passenger was said to be in critical condition.
22-year-old Marquis Willis died. Two men who were in the garbage truck, were not injured.
