A West Virginia man was arrested after he tried to have sex with a 5-year-old girl.

44-year-old Johnnie Champ of Princeton, was arrested after the Beckley Police Department received a complaint that he had tried to sexually assault the five year old, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint states that Champ and the woman met online through a dating website. During their conversation, Champ had expressed his desire to have sex with a young child in exchange for money.

He then asked the woman to allow him to have sex with her young daughter.

The woman considered it “reprehensible,” and decided to get the pedophile off the streets.

She developed a plan to agree to his demands, and have him arrested. She agreed to have the man come to her house under the premise that he was going to have sexual contact with her daughter for $104.

The woman contacted law enforcement to report the man’s actions, but no one was available to speak with her at the time.

She then asked three male friends to hide in her house to help her and keep her daughter safe.

Champ got to the home at 12:00 p.m., and found the child asleep on a couch, according to the police report. Champ then told the mother to take the girl upstairs and undress her.

That’s when two of the men jumped him and held him down while the mother called the police to report the incident.

Champ was charged with attempted first-degree sexual assault. He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $250,000 bond.

U.S. Marshals later arrested Champ on additional charges of attempting to commit a felony and solicitation of a minor by a computer.
