A judge has caused outrage when he said that incest is gaining social acceptance.
The judge of Australia, was suspended and is being investigation after he was quoted as saying that sex between siblings was gaining social acceptance just like homosexuality.
District Court Judge Garry Neilson, reportedly made the statement in a case in which a man was accused of repeatedly raping his younger sister.
New South Wales State Attorney General Brad Hazzard, said that he was “very concerned” about the alleged comments of the judge. He said that the community is also appalled by the statement.
“Incest is totally reprehensible, unacceptable, disgusting and criminal,” Hazzard said.
Neilson was quoted saying that communities might no longer see sex between siblings as “unnatural” or “taboo,” just like people changed their view of homosexuality, which is now socially acceptable despite being criminalized in the past.
The judge said that the reason incest is still a crime is because of the risk of genetic abnormalities in children born through a relationship of this type.
In another case, Neilson reportedly gave a rapist a lighter sentence because he did not ejaculate inside his teenage niece.
