Police officers were shocked when a woman called them to report that a supermarket employee was stabbing an orange, police in the United Kingdom said.

Manchester Police said that the customer made the unusual emergency call after walking into Spar and seeing the employee cutting up the orange.

She told the police dispatcher that it was unfair that the worker was using a sharp tool, as it is illegal for people to carry a knife in public.

The woman hung up after being told to talk to the store manager. Police officers later called the woman to warn her not waste valuable police resources.

Police received the strange call at 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, after she visited the store in the Piccadilly area of Manchester. Greater Manchester Police have repeatedly urged the public to only call 999 in an emergency.
