Despite being far away from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a Jewish mother and her daughter were killed when a rocket slammed into them, Jewish community leaders in Ukraine said.
The two were killed in the city of Lugansk on Friday, as pro-Russian forces fought with government forces.
The victims were identified as 57-year-old Svetlana Sitnikov, and 31-year-old Anna Sitnikov. The two were killed as they were on their way to a local shopping mall to buy shoes.
The two had planned to take along the 4-year-old son of Anna, Vadim, but at the last moment his grandfather decided to watch him.
Five minutes later, the two were hit by the rocket in front of the store.
