(Scroll down for video) A paraplegic claimed that he fatally shot his own brother because he abused him, police in Pennsylvania said.
The Philadelphia Police Department said that murder suspect told them that he opened fire in self-defense.
A brother-in-law of the suspect, Brian Lee, said that he heard a commotion and ran downstairs, but by then it was too late. John Mapp was already shot by his younger brother, who is a paraplegic.
According to the police investigation, shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 5800 block of Filbert Street.
When officers arrived, they found Mapp shot in the chest. The 40-year-old man was rushed to a hospital where he later died. The younger brother told investigators that Mapp and his sister were physically abused.
After the victim attacked his sister, he charged at the suspect. That is when the 34-year-old suspect shot him. So far, no charges have been filed.
