Police are desperately trying to catch those behind smearing donuts and pastries into cars, police in Oregon said.

Hillsboro Police said that during the last six weeks, vandals have been busy attacking cars with baked goods around town.

No spray paint or broken windows were reported. Instead, donuts were scattered on the 5600 block of Northeast Farmcrest Street, and neighboring areas.

Car owners reported finding chocolate bars, chocolate donuts and pastries. The vandals used other foods as well, including red potato salad, eggs and yogurt.

Victims told police that the vandalism always occurred during the night. Police believe that cars are being hit at random, and that young people are behind the attacks.

The smeared donuts are causing real harm as people need to clean up the mess, which costs money. One woman told police that her vehicle was hit six times.

Her vehicle was hit with a Maple bar, slimy liquid, soaked white bread, pink yogurt spread, red potato salad and a cinnamon donut.

After each incident the woman paid $10 to have her car washed.
