The 33-year-old woman called police after stopping at a median of the highway to help the stranded ducklings.

When police arrived she received a $100 fine. Hallie Bibeau of Newfields, said that she will fight the fine she received while driving east on Route 101 on Friday.

While driving along the road, she had to step on her brakes to avoid hitting the ducklings. The mother duck and several of the ducklings were hit and killed by another car.

She stopped and called 911. She got out of her car and moved the two surviving ducklings off the road. She received a fine for stopping in the median.

Police said that the median are for emergencies, and they do not consider saving ducks an emergency situation. The surviving ducks were taken to a wildlife rescue in Maine.
