(Scroll down for video) A woman lost her leg in a car accident after being trapped for 10 hours in the mountains of Oregon.

The accident occurred after the young woman swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

23-year-old Noel Shannon of Washington, took photos in the Umatilla National Forest near Walla Walla River, before her truck overturned.

The truck flipped over and stopped on the driver’s side. Shannon was thrown around and her left leg was sticking out of the window.
Her foot was stuck under the door frame, and she was unable to get it out.

After 10 hours of being trapped with no help in sight, Shannon began hearing wolves howling, and thought that sooner rather than later, the animals will make their way to her car.

In a desperate attempt to free herself, Shannon decided she would have to amputate her leg. She tried using her keys, but they were not sharp enough to do the job.

With her adrenaline rushing, Shannon pulled with all her might and managed to free her foot, damaging it even further.

She then used her good leg to break the windshield and crawled out of the wreckage. She managed to pull herself to the road where two people found her, and she was taken to the hospital.

Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save her left leg and it was amputated.
