A man decided to risk his life by jumping out of a moving vehicle in order to escape from his abusive girlfriend, police in Washington said.
The Fife Police Department said that the man decided he would rather dive from the moving car than to keep arguing with his girlfriend on Saturday.
The girlfriend was charged for trying to run away from police.
The incident began on the 3000 block of Pacific Highway around 3:30 p.m., when a police officer saw the man jumping from the passenger seat of the moving car.
The driver was identified as 33-year-old Alice Finley. The officer turned on his lights, but Finley quickly accelerated and would not stop even when the officer turned on his siren.
Finley ran a red light.
The man who had jumped from the car entered the street in an attempt to stop her, but he had to jump out of the way when Finley would not stop.
Eventually, the police officer physically drag her from the car to arrest her. Finley told the officer that she did not stop because she did not want to deal with her boyfriend.
Finley was charged with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.
