Surgeons in Mumbai, removed 232 teeth from the mouth of Ashik Gavai.

The record amount of teeth was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. Gavai, 17, went to JJ Hospital on Monday, with a swollen right jaw.

Doctors found that the boy had complex odontoma, a condition in which the various odontogenic tissues appear in a disordered arrangement that does not look like teeth.

The doctors began the surgery on Monday and it took almost seven hours. At first, they thought that it will be simple, but then they had to remove teeth mixed into the jaw.

The previous record of most teeth in a mouth was just 37. Most adults have 32 teeth in total. Doctors said that they found a marble structure within the jaw of the child and had to chisel and remove teeth fragments.

The operation was a success and the boy’s jaw should heal without any deformity.
