A young girl was arrested after police found her friend decapitated and her hands cut off.

In one of the most grisly crimes tackled by police in Japan, the schoolgirl has been arrested for strangling a classmate, severing her head and chopping off one of her hands.

Police went to the 15-year-old high school girl’s apartment in Sasebo, 900 miles southwest of Tokyo, and found the bedroom soaked in blood with the decapitated body parts of her friend.

The 15-year-old suspect was being interviewed to establish motive for the alleged murder.

The victim, Aiwa Matsuko, also 15, spent the day with the suspect when she was struck on the back of the head more than 10 times with a blunt instrument. While she was unconscious the suspect strangled her.

It is alleged that the suspect, who has not been named because she is a minor, cut off Matsuo’s head and her left hand with a large knife.

The horrific crime came to light after Matsuo’s parents contacted police when their daughter failed to return home.

Police said that about 7:00 p.m., Matsuo sent a text message to her parents saying that she was about to leave her friend’s home.

Officers arrived to the house and found the country’s most shocking crime in recent years. Police found Matsuko’s body laying on the suspect’s bed. The knife and an unspecified blunt instrument were laying nearby.

Officers said that the two girls were alone in the apartment at the time of the crime. The teen allegedly admitted to murdering her friend.
