A boy came up with a crazy idea after dropping his phone into a pond, police in Germany said.

The school boy, who was on a fishing trip, went to extremes to find his submerged iPhone after dropping it overboard.

He decided to drain the pond in order to reach the phone.

The boy told police that he decided to drain the river because the owners of the fishing club refused to allow him to dive into the pond to retrieve his phone.

He came back in the middle of the night, and placed two powerful pumps inside the pond.

The boy attached two large hoses to the pumps and drained the pond containing thousands of fish into the toilets of the fishing club.

However, the bathroom was not connected to a sewer system and the water overflowed into the parking lot of the club. The bizarre plan came to an end when the owner discovered the hoses from the pump and the flooded parking lot.

“I knew the phone was probably dead, but I wanted to get the data card back as it contained the phone numbers, pictures and videos of my friends. It almost worked,” the boy said.

The 16-year-old boy was ordered to pay the damages caused to the toilet, the cleaning operation and for the extra water that had to be pumped back into the pond.
