A prophet was arrested on charges of theft after allegedly leading a gang of car thieves, police in Nigeria said.
Ekiti State Police said that 40-year-old Taiwo Afolabi and seven others, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and auto-theft.
Among the seven was Raji Babatunde. Babatunde was arrested during a robbery in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police seized cars from Afolabi, that he and his gang stole over the course of several months.
Last year, a man was arrested and charged with theft related charges after stealing a car from another man, who had stopped to help him on the side of a road, according to police reports in Minnesota.
St. Louis County Police said that the man was arrested in northern Minnesota on Saturday night, after crashing his car and allegedly stealing the vehicle from the good Samaritan, who tried to help him.
Authorities responded to a rollover crash of a vehicle at about 10:34 p.m. on Saturday, in the 4400 block of Martin Road. A caller told police that the vehicle is possibly on fire. When authorities arrived at the scene, they learned that several good Samaritans stopped to help the victim of the accident, but saw the man abandon his car and fleeing into the woods.
A short time later, the man returned, stole one of the cars belonging to the good Samaritan and fled from the scene. A Deputy Sheriff stopped the car and took the man into custody without incident. He was identified as 24-year-old Jacob Allan Mellinger of Duluth.
Mellinger was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Later, he was taken to the county jail in St. Louis. The incident is still under investigation.
