A man killed his wife after he erroneously believed that she was cheating on him with another man, a court in the United Kingdom heard.
According to police in Cornwall, the paranoid husband killed his wife and then took his own life.
48-year-old Jonathan Trenchard, told his three children and coworkers that he believed his wife 50-year-old wife Derisa, was cheating.
The dead couple was discovered by police in the living room of their home in Carbis Bay.
Police were sent to the house when Jonathan did not show up for work at a local factory, and his wife did not arrived at work as a secretary at a law firm.
Derisa died of massive head injuries. A hammer was found near her body. Her husband suffered stab wounds to the chest and a large kitchen knife was found nearby.
The scene was consistent with the murder of Derisa, and then the suicide of Jonathan, the court was told.
