A woman of the United Kingdom, uploaded a receipt that raises eyebrows as it displays a charge for successfully showing her identification to a liquor store clerk.
The teen said that she was shocked after being charged 1 pence for showing identification.
19-year-old Sian Heather, went shopping at the Bargain Booze Plus located at 355 Seaside in Eastbourne, to buy a bottle of wine and was asked to prove that she was over 18 years old.
She could not believe her eyes when she later checked her receipt, which shows that she was charged 2.99 pounds (1 pound = $1.68) for the wine and one pence for showing identification.
Shocked by the incident, Heather also posted a picture of the receipt on Twitter and wrote: “charged me £0.01 for showing ID.”
Bargain Booze Plus said that the situation was an isolated incident and should never have happened.
“We never charge clients for identity checks. We are working closely with our Eastbourne store to ensure that this does not happen again,” a company spokesperson said.
