(Scroll down for video) A 12-year-old boy stabbed a younger boy, who was playing in a park, according to police in Michigan.
Witness Glen Stacy, who lives near the park in Kentwood, spoke about his shock when the 12-year-old boy asked to use his phone.
However, rather than calling his mother he called 911 and told police that he stabbed the younger boy.
Stacy said that 12-year-old Jamarion Lawhorn, approached him and asked to use his cell phone. He said that Lawhorn called 911 and very calmly told the dispatcher that he stabbed someone.
It was about 6:00 p.m., when 9-year-old Michael Conner Verkerke went to the park near his home, where he was stabbed by Lawhorn.
After being stabbed, Verkerke ran to his home and collapsed on the porch. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Lawhorn was taken to the hospital for an evaluation before being arrested and charged with murder.
Ashley Flint, who dated the father of the suspect for a while, is still in shock over the incident. She said that her son, who is the half brother of Lawhorn, spend a lot of time with Lawhorn. Flint referred to the 12-year-old suspect as a boy who is “polite and nice.”
